Bring In 2011

As we get ready to welcome in the new year I am sure most of you are making plans to celebrate the evening. Are you reserving a table at a restaurant for a romantic dinner with your love one, followed by viewing a firework show? Maybe you are grabbing some friends for a party at a club or hotel in the city? Or just having a get together at home and pop open some bubbly? Whatever you decide, it will be a time to say goodbye to 2010 and hello to 2011. It's a time for a new beginning, creating new resolution's and collecting new memories. I love a fresh start and hope that this year will bring good health and good times to all of us. HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR! CHEERS.......

Christmas Cheer

Christmas is right around the corner and before you know it everyone will be gathered together again to celebrate this cheerful holiday. This year my aunt and I were talking about doing something different. Instead of having a traditional sit down dinner on Christmas day we would have a cocktail, appetizer and dessert night instead. We thought it would be fun for all of us to bring a different appetizer, set up different food stations and serve a festive cocktail or two to go with them. Everyone can casually mingle around, then we can sit down after for coffee and dessert while watching some classic Christmas movies by the fire. Sounds like a plan to me! It does not matter if your gathering is formal, casual, big or small it's just nice to cherish these precious moments with the ones your with and savor the flavor of the holiday. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Here are some cute festive ideas I found to add that special touch to your Christmas gathering.

Almost Time To Gobble Gobble

Thanksgiving is a time to gather with family and friends to give thanks for all that we are blessed with. It's a time for cooking up delicious dishes and stirring up festive drinks. To set up a nice table scape for your dinner you can have a fresh flower center piece arranged with all the fall colors or a traditional cornucopia filled with shelled nuts, figs, pears, and clementines as your main focal point then you can tie in some pine cones, dried corn husks, small pumpkins, and votive candles around the center piece to give it that warm touch. I love the warm cozy feeling that this holiday brings and enjoy seeing people celebrate this time of year. I have not had the pleasure to assist an event focused on the Thanksgiving holiday yet, but hope to in the future. Helping with the Macy's Thanksgiving parade would be a dream! Hey.... you never know? So what are you plans for Thanksgiving? Have a great one!

St Paul's/Bella Vista School Oktoberfest Event 2010

So this October I decided on volunteering to be the chairperson for my sons preschool division and organize a game booth for the schools Oktoberfest Event. The kids seem to love it and kept coming back to play and collect the cute prizes. The festival was filled with carnival games, jumpy houses, live entertainment for the kids, German food, a beer garden, music and craft vendors. Even though the weather turned out to be a cloudy rainy day that didn't stop anyone from having a good time. I love the fall season and was excited to experience this type of event and help out. It was fun to see how it all came together and I look forward to helping with different types of festivals in the future. Happy Fall Season!

The Half Way Mark

So.... I am excited to be half way through my course and on my way to become an Internationally Certified Event Planner. I have enjoyed what I learned so far and thrilled to see what the other half of the program will teach and prepare me for. My tutor seems to be proud of my work as she has been giving me high grade markings and great feedback on my past assignments. Once I am finished with the course
(which I am shooting for the end of the year) my goal is to get a job with a corporate company as their event planner while having Savvy Chic Events as my personal side business to plan private functions for clients. As I approach the end of the program I will post a preview of my services to come and hope to have a my professional website up and running by the new year 2011. In the mean time if you have any questions or need assistance on an upcoming event please contact me. Thank you for taking the time to follow my journey!

Setting The Tone

Music is an important element of an event. Weather it's some jazz tunes playing over cocktails, some soft classical music during a sit down dinner and then adding some upbeat music after for dancing the night away. Music sets the tone of a event and puts the guest in a mood to have fun and enjoy themselves. When looking for a live band or DJ make sure to get reviews on the company and ask to observe previous work. They should have a sample video on their website or can provide you with one to view. Also have a play list written down on your favorite types of songs so that they can play through out the evening. Most important is to make sure to get out on the dance floor and enjoy yourself with your family and friends. It is wonderful to see a group of people dancing, laughing and having a great time together. I love music and dancing. It lifts the spirits and provides great memories. So.... get out there and boogie!

A Winery Wedding

This wedding took place Saturday September 18th 2010 at the Crooked Vine Winery in Livermore, Ca. I love working at this Venue because it has that beautiful rustic vineyard atmosphere. The guest were first invited into the wine barrel room for drinks and appetizers, then moved out side for dinner. After dinner they returned to the barrel room for the cake cutting and dancing. It was wonderful to see how this wedding brought in the fall colors as we approach the season. I love the fall and the colors it brings. This wedding sure implicated that.
